Americans Must Come Together to Defeat Hate

(WASHINGTON)—Community Change is heartbroken today and mourns with the families of the Orlando shooting victims and with all Americans.

“We will stand with our allies nationwide to say hate will never win over love and acceptance for what makes every individual in our country unique,” said Deepak Bhargava, CCC’s executive director. “We mourn with the victims’ families and we join in the growing chorus of Americans calling for an end to these senseless hate-filled killings. We especially embrace the LGBTQ community on this sad day.”

“We can defeat hate by showing we are united against any actions that target people because of who they love, how they look or where they worship,” Bhargava said. “All Americans must rise up and speak out against hatred toward others. Just this year, there have been 134 mass shootings in our country. Anyone who blames the shooting on the shooter’s ethnic background or his religion is only fueling the hatred that leads to these acts of violence. We can only end this when the forces of love stand together and organize.”
