Community Change Calls for Safe Places for Women to Seek Reproductive Health Care
(WASHINGTON)—Community Change (CCC) is proud to stand with Planned Parenthood to mark the National Day of Solidarity on Dec. 5th so that all women can have safe places to go for reproductive health care.
“Planned Parenthood provides vital health care to women all across the country. No one should have to face violence, threats, or intimidation to access basic health care,” said Deepak Bhargava, CCC’s executive director. “Many women, especially low-income women of color, are provided with necessary health care such as mammograms and yearly OB/GYN exams at Planned Parenthood facilities, as well as crucial family planning services.”
“One of the lessons of the tragedy in Colorado is that words matter, and hateful rhetoric fuels violence. We are calling for an end to the inflammatory rhetoric that has vilified and fueled attacks not only against Planned Parenthood and abortion providers, but also against the black community, immigrants, refugees, and the transgender community,” Bhargava added.
