Susan Chinn

Susan Chinn is currently the Director of Generation Change at the Center for Community Change, a national nonprofit dedicated to providing technical assistance and support to community-based organizations in disadvantaged communities throughout the U.S.  She has worked at the Center since 2004 and is currently developing Generation Change, an ambitious program to recruit, train, and nurture new talent in the nonprofit sector, particularly from underrepresented communities.

Before joining CCC, she was involved in the field of philanthropy for sixteen years, primarily as the Executive Director of the Discount Foundation, a small private foundation that focuses on alleviating poverty by supporting exemplary programs to improve job opportunities for low-income people.  She also served as a program officer for the Proteus Fund and the Fund 2000, where her grantmaking focused on promoting civic participation.  Before joining the Discount Foundation in 1988, she began Parents United for Child Care, a Massachusetts nonprofit dedicated to expanding the supply of quality, affordable child care and out-of-school care.

She has a Masters Degree in History from the University of Illinois.
