What:        National Town Hall Meeting on Immigration Reform, sponsored by the Reform Immigration FOR America campaign

When:       10 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2009

Where:      Church of the Reformation,  212 East Capitol St, NE, Washington, DC

Why:         This year’s immigration debate will get a new look as labor, faith, civil rights, business and immigrant rights groups who have worked on winning immigration reform before, but have always done so independently, join forces to build momentum for passing just and humane immigration reform legislation. On June 4, the National Town Hall Meeting on Immigration Reform will bring together more than 700 advocates and allies representing these sectors and will serve as a starting point for securing much needed congressional support for passing immigration reform.

The Town Hall, which will feature key members of Congress, including Rep. Mike Honda (D-HI), Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) and others, is the culmination of a week long series of events to launch the Reform Immigration FOR America campaign.  The campaign is a multi-faceted, targeted effort that aims to invigorate and activate immigration supporters at the grassroots level and secure the needed votes in Congress to win immigration reform this year.  Immigration advocates are moving supporters to call their elected officials and the White House to let them know the country supports reform, and we want the debate to begin this year.
