Community Organizers Won’t Take “No” for an Answer
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Statement by the Campaign for Community Change Reacting to the GOP Budget Proposal
Thursday, Mar 26, 2009Contact: Germonique R. Ulmer, gulmer@communitychange.org
Washington – Republican leaders, in an effort by to erase widespread public perception that they have become the party of “no” and lack an alternative to President Obama’s budget, today released 20 pages of obstructionist non- proposals.
“We are at a critical moment in which bold and constructive action is needed to see our way out of the economic crisis that these same GOP obstructionists got us into.
“Today’s Republican budget ‘alternative’ isn’t bold and it certainly isn’t constructive. It’s time for real leadership from everyone in Congress to help President Obama correct a course that has failed the American people far too long. These times call for a new kind of leadership, with a different kind of vision—one of bringing this country together, and finding unique ways to solve our shared problems with equal sacrifice, responsibility and determination.”
