Washington-
Today, the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee released their draft
of a health care reform bill. Deepak
Bhargava, executive director of the Campaign for Community Change, released the
following statement:
“Just last week, thousands rallied for health care reform on Capitol Hill, and the HELP Committee not only heard the crowd there, but the millions of Americans across the country who want real health care reform that covers everyone. Way to deliver! HELP has put forth a bill with a public health insurance option that lowers costs, improves the quality of care and covers everyone. This bill also provides Americans protection from greedy private insurers by setting up firm regulations, allowing a competitive health market to emerge.
“We applaud the HELP Committee’s action and summon the Senate Finance Committee to follow suit.”
