Position Description:
The Center for Community Change (CCC) and the Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM) are seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial director to launch a new national immigrants association (name TBD). This is an ambitious, large-scale effort that calls for a talented entrepreneur with extensive business and movement building experience.
 
By leveraging the combined power of the grassroots organizations in the Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM) as well as national organizations with strong roots in immigrant communities, the Center for Community Change (CCC) sees an opportunity to develop a national immigrant association that will broker key benefits and services for immigrants.
 
By bringing together key organizations serving immigrants into a national coalition, the national immigrants association will broker vital discounts and benefits with national companies. The initial set of services and benefits that the immigrants association plans to develop may include remittance discounts, financial services, legal services, ID support, online support networks, and discounts with a range of products of services including cell phones, travel, insurance, auto, and health.
 
The association aims to both give immigrant-serving organizations across the country a powerful tool for building membership and earned revenue as well as creating a national organizing force to advocate for the needs of immigrants.
The Immigrant Association Director is an entrepreneurial position encompassing the full range of business start-up and development processes.
 
This position reports to: The Executive Director
 
Principal Responsibilities: 
 
The Immigrant Association Director’s job responsibilities will include:
 
A)        Leading the business planning and strategy for the association;
 
B)        Leading the development of the association’s business model, including developing a range of benefits and services and negotiating deals with major companies;
 
C)        Fundraising for the association’s growth in concert with CCC and FIRM leaders and driving the revenue growth of the association to self-sustainability within 5 years;
 
D)        Developing and overseeing an expanding staff team (expected to grow to over a dozen association staff by the end of 2013);
 
E)        Working with the board of the association (to be developed from the partner organizations in the coalition) to continuously hone the strategy and operations of the association.
 
Qualifications:
 
CCC and FIRM are seeking a passionate leader who has extensive business development experience, a clear commitment to advancing social justice, and deep connections to immigrant communities in the United States.
 
The most important skills for the Immigrant Association Director is:
 
•     Business Development and Management – extensive experience leading the development of products and services (in a for-profit or nonprofit context) and managing the growth of institutions.
 
Applicants must also:
•     Have at least 10 years of post-college work experience
•     Have significant experience leading and managing sizeable staff teams
•     Be highly proficient with basic computer software and web research and applications
•     Be highly proficient with metric development and data analysis for business initiatives
•     Have demonstrated a commitment to social justice and social change through their work and volunteer experiences
•     Have strong connections to immigrant communities in the United States
•     Display exceptional interpersonal, communication and writing skills
•     Be team-oriented and enjoy working collaboratively
•     Have strong planning skills and ability to prioritize work activities to achieve goals in a timely manner.
•     Have demonstrated success leading teams, building consensus, and inspiring confidence and respect.
•     Exhibit strong moral and ethical character
