Website, Video Thanks Caregivers for Their Dedication throughout the Year
(WASHINGTON)—We all know someone who takes time out of his/her busy life to be a caregiver for another, whether for aging parents, disabled children or otherwise. Community Change is running a “Give a Care” holiday campaign through mid-December to thank all caregivers for their selfless contributions to others in their lives. The campaign aims to open a dialogue on the importance of caregiving and what it means to be a caregiver in today’s society, and it aims to highlight the dedication of these individuals–dedication that often goes unacknowledged throughout the year.
The website and a video that thanks caregivers and their loved ones can be found at: www.wegiveacare.org.
“This important campaign gives us an opportunity to give credit to those who so rarely receive it but certainly deserve it,” said Deepak Bhargava, Executive Director, and Center for Community Change. “We are excited about starting the dialogue on the need to help those that dedicate their lives to helping their loved ones.”Long term, the campaign aims to educate lawmakers so they will work to pass laws that will benefit caregivers, including a Caregiver Credit Act, which would allow caregivers who leave the workforce to care for their children or sick parents and partners to earn Social Security credits during that time.
