Position Description:
The Annual Fund and Marketing Manager is the creative, boundaries-pushing annual giving person who directs and implements a comprehensive approach to building a robust small donor program (gifts of under $1,000) using all tools available (direct mail, social media, face-to-face appeals, mobile, SMS and beyond). One of the chief responsibilities of this position is to grow CCC’s monthly giving program. This hands-on innovator also manages the communications and marketing needs specific to fundraising for CCC (newsletters, appeal copy, event invitation copy, etc.).
The Annual Fund and Marketing Manager reports to the Deputy Director of Development.
Principal Responsibilities:
Support the goals of the Institutional Advancement Team in securing resources for both the Center for Community Change and the Campaign for Community Change.
Direct and increase both the number of donors and prospects in Raiser’s Edge, the number of Monthly givers, and the amount of revenue coming from these sources by developing and implementing creative and persuasive giving programs for small donors (under $1,000) that cultivate, solicit and steward gifts from current and prospective donors.
Coordinate all annual-giving solicitations (year-end and others) for the Center to maximize both the various ways of giving (online, direct mail, monthly sustainer) as well as overall participation rates.
Manage all annual fund consultants including the direct mail house, acquisition list brokers, Blackbaud’s Net Communities support services, and others as appropriate.
Develop annual giving strategic and operations plans. Based on those plans, propose yearly budget for the Annual Giving program. Administer the budget in conjunction with the Deputy Director of Development to insure sound fiscal controls and management, and analyze the cost-effectiveness of individual program components on an ongoing basis.
Serve as the project manager for all logistical aspects of the marketing projects produced in the Institutional Advancement Team for CCC (i.e. annual report, quarterly newsletters, event invitations, etc.)
Plan and track targeted goals and benchmarks per each annual campaign.
Inter-Departmental and External Coordination Roles
- Work closely with the Communications Department to ensure that annual fund and communications functions are mutually reinforcing.
- Collaboration with the Communications Department to expand the capacity (both for the Center and the associated c4 at the Campaign) for on-line fundraising, advocacy and membership acquisition.
- Drive the creation of the annual fund budget and fundraising goals, in collaboration with the Deputy Director of Development.
- Provide fundraising leadership and assistance to program staff and, as appropriate, to CCC’s constituent community-based organizations
- Plan and track targeted goals and benchmarks per each annual campaign.
Professional Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of fundraising experience with a demonstrated successful track record of annual campaign design and implementation.
- Possess the knowledge and hands-on understanding of most current annual campaign/individual giving fundraising principles and techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to design, implement and evaluate comprehensive campaigns for annual gifts, establishing goals and objectives that translate into annual operating plans and appropriate use of consultants and vendors.
- Strong writing ability, with an eye towards copywriting for both online and direct mail acquisition.
- Possess strong analytical and marketing skills.
- Skill to use a personal computer and computer software programs (including Raiser's Edge) at the level of sophistication required for a robust annual fund program.
- Ability to articulate the fund raising goals of the Center to the public and establish relationships with members of the progressive community.
