What We Do

The Health Rights Organizing Project (HROP) convenes grassroots community organizations to work for affordable and just healthcare for all.  With the leadership of the Northwest Federation of Community Organizations, the Center is building a broad coalition of grassroots organizations to push for significant policy change that will improve health access and outcomes for everyone in America. HROP is a leading member of Health Care for America Now, a national campaign seeking inclusive, affordable and universal health care. Our strategy is to support and strengthen state and federal public health coverage programs, expose the harmful role of the private market in our health care system, and shift public opinion about health care towards a framework prioritizing health as a community value.  HROP provides a way for organizations around the country to share strategy, to raise money for joint program, to develop common message, and to target specific new constituencies including small business owners and immigrant communities.  HROP is a vehicle for grassroots organizations and their leaders to play a leadership role in the national debate about health care reform.
