The MVL team is helping to organize a national forum in which community organizers and leaders across the country will help shape policy with members of the new Congress and the new administration.

Realizing The Promise:  A Forum on Community, Faith & Democracy

As you know, we're witnessing a pivotal moment in our nation's history.  We saw a candidate harness the power of communities and grassroots organizing to rise to the nation's highest political office.  And it wouldn't have happened without real, everyday people on the ground organizing for change across the country.  That is why these organizers and community leaders are coming together in DC to help shape the agenda of the transition and the first 100 days of the new administration.

And, the MVL team would like to invite you to witness this historic moment.

REALIZING THE PROMISE:  A FORUM ON COMMUNITY, FAITH & DEMOCRACY December 4th, 3 PM - 6 PM EST

Organized by the Center for Community Change and the Gamaliel Foundation, this event will bring in more than 2000 grassroots leaders and organizers from low-income and communities of color to DC for a "Meet The Press"-like public discussion with members of the new Congress and Obama's transition team.  Realizing the Promise will also lay the groundwork for constant grassroots lobbying in the Capitol during the next 100 days, where people will come from all across the country to press their legislators on the change we really want and need.

This is an incredible, unprecedented opportunity for the voices of real, everyday people to participate in shaping public policy in our country!

We will be streaming the event LIVE on December 4th from 3 PM - 6 PM EST at http://www.RealizingThePromise.org and we want people from across the country to watch the event, participate in the discussions, and submit questions that may be used on-stage during the event.

We're working hard on this event and unfortunately, will be putting MVL on hiatus for the moment.  Visit Realizing The Promise today and on December 4th to see the exciting work that we're doing!

Change is...

Change is nature. Every one will experience change. The status of our economy today has changed, from being stable and now our economy is in shamble. Even our national security is affected by our weak economy. Keeping our economy going is good for national security. Dennis Blair, the Director of National Security, has warned as much. Many things on the global scale are tied intrinsically to the U.S. economy, such as aid programs in Africa that gives out payday loans to needy countries. Also, the international system of finance is closely tied to our lending institutions, and foreign manufacturers supply the goods we have a demand for. The warning is that some programs, such as international aid, could break down if we don't get our economy back on track soon enough, which is why we need the payday loans to get things moving again.
