What Is Linchpin?

Community organizing is essential to a functioning democracy. It is a key strategy for creating an informed and involved constituency with the power to make decisions that effectively govern their communities.

Unfortunately, community organizing has rarely received the attention it deserves, or the funding it needs to expand the resource base for grassroots community organizing beyond individual electoral cycles or specific issue campaigns.

With initial support from the Open Society Institute, the Center for Community Change has embarked on an ambitious, multi-faceted campaign to spread the word about the power of community organizing and to make the case for serious investment in the growth of the sector.

This new effort will map the field of community organizing to clearly show its depth and breadth, and develop compelling language, illustrative stories and profiles of dynamic grassroots leadership.

The Linchpin Campaign is a special project of  the Center for Community Change. Its goals are to create marketing strategies for community organizing in order to increase funding for the field and expand giving opportunities for new and current donors who are committed to building a better civil society.
