The 2009 GenChange Southern Internship Class

We are excited and proud to announce the launch of our 2009 GenChange Southern Internship Program!   Eleven dynamic interns along with expert trainers and Center leaders kicked off this innovative summer program for new community organizers by participating in a four day training on June 10 - 13 in Nashville, TN.

Four days of hands on exercises, group strategy sessions, workshops, and discussions led by Gerald Taylor, GenChange's lead trainer, provided the 2009 GenChange class with the basic principles of community organizing and grassroots leadership, including the role of power, the relational meeting, developing a strategy, fundraising, and communications and messaging.

The eleven interns have all begun their ten week summer organizing experience at their local community based organizations in North Carolina and Tennessee.  During their summer, the GenChangers will organize and provide critical support to their host organizations as well as the Center's Campaign for Community Values .

Stay tuned for updates of their stories from the field!
