What We Do

Celebrate Organizing!

We believe that community organizing is a key strategy for social change and full civic participation.  Therefore, the need to invest in new leadership is critical at this moment in time.  Last year's Presidential election demonstrated that there is an incredible appetite for a program that is dedicated to achieving this purpose, to recruit and train new community organizers, particularly people of color, from low-income communities, and immigrants.

Now in its fourth program year, Generation Change has successfully graduated over 75 new organizers from its internship program, 18 from its Fellowship Program, and trained over 70 from its Advanced Leadership Training Program.

Internship Program

Last year, the 2009 GenChange Internship program partnered with local community based organizations throughout North Carolina and Tennessee to place twelve interns for a 10-week direct experience organizing on issues such as healthcare reform, immigration, and worker's rights.

This year, the 2010 GenChange Internship program will continue its focus in the South.  Click here to read more about this year's internship program.
