Community Organizers Tackle Health Care

Week in Community Values for April 16, 2009
Born out of a mass rejection of the failed policies of individualism and divisiveness, the Campaign for Community Values is a return to the beliefs our country was founded on: shared responsibility, shared sacrifice and shared success.

Take a look at the great work our partners across the country have done since we last updated you:

CCC Joins Coalition to Support Passage of President Obama’s Budget

The Center for Community Change is among more than 40 national organizations who have joined forces to push for passage of President Obama’s historic budget. The campaign, called Rebuild and Renew America Now, will use grassroots organizing, lobbying and paid advertising to remind Congress that the country needs President Obama’s visionary budget.

“The President’s budget is a bold breath of fresh air for working families who have been put on the back burner for far too long in the interest of excessive private gain,” said Deepak Bhargava, executive director of the Center for Community Change. “The President’s budget is also a recognition that we do not need to move forward issue-by-issue in a piecemeal fashion. We are committed to realizing the promise of America by making sure the voices of America’s diverse communities are continually heard throughout this process.”
