This hour, at the Heartland Presidential Forum: Community Values in Action, in Des Moines, Iowa, Representative Dennis Kucinich addressed an audience of thousands of Iowa Caucus goers and others in English and in Spanish, declaring “It is essential that we respect the human rights of all” and that “No human being is illegal.” He went on to say that NAFTA should be repealed and that workers’ rights should be at the center of every U.S. trade agreement.

Kucinich spoke to participants in the Heartland Presidential Forum: Community Values in Action, a gathering of grassroots leaders from Iowa, the Midwest, and around the country.

“Representative Kucinich has taken an important step toward Community Values in recognizing that the rights and interests of immigrants and native born workers are connected,” said the Campaign’s organizers. “As we move to the Iowa caucuses and primaries around the country, Community Values voters will be asking how all of the candidates plan to help workers rise together.”
