Real Issues, Real PeopleThe Heartland Presidential Forum was one of the largest gatherings of undecided likely caucus-goers leading up to Caucus day! More than 2,000 Iowans and over 1,600 every-day people from 32 states braved the ice and cold to be there. Many of them traveled by bus. In an unprecedented format, community leaders talked and the candidates listened. Family farmers from Iowa described the invasion of factory farms in Iowa and Mexico. Urban home owners spoke of the foreclosures ripping through their communities, leaving families on the street, and neighbors recalled the immigration raids that tore children from their parents and left entire communities reeling from the shock. The leaders asked each candidate to stand with the Campaign for Community Values and put people before politics. This was a team effort all the way. Over twenty community-based organizations with a combined membership of over 200,000 Iowans came together to put on the show! In addition, communities across the country held seven major sync events and a multitude of smaller ones in solidarity with the Heartland Presidential Forum. So were YOU on December 1st? Missed the Forum?? Watch it here.
