Please note that this is the 2007 Generation Change Internship Program information.
In our first year, we received over 240 applications for 25 Generation Change internship positions. Our strategy –to build partnerships with local community organizations, schools, and training institutions— proved effective in recruiting a rich pool of talented applicants indigenous to the communities in our placement areas. The demographics of our interns reflect our commitment to reaching new constituencies: 76% are people of color, 68% are women, and 20% are L.G.B.T. self identified.
Interns were placed at dynamic grassroots community based organizations in the following 4 locations:
- New York City metro area
- Washington, DC metro area
- North Carolina
- Tennessee
