The Alumni Association keeps graduates of Generation Change engaged with the program and with fellow graduates. The Association provides peer support, works to keep alumni informed and participating with the Center for Community Change, invites alumni to attend conferences or events, and ensures that alumni are updated on current Generation Change program work. | |
What We Provide
The Generation Change Alumni Association:
- -Maintains a Generation Change listserv for each class,
- -Coordinates a database with current contact information of all Generation Change alumnae,
- -Periodically profiles alumnae on the Generation Change website at www.genchange.org,
- -Circulates job announcements from the Center for Community Change and other community organizations and non-profits,
- -Provides alumnae with the opportunity to keep a resume in our Generation Change talent bank for review by potential community organizations seeking to fill jobs,
- -Provides alumnae with regular program updates,
- -Prioritizes graduates who apply for other Generation Change programs (fellowships/mentorships), and
- -Supports regional or national efforts to convene alumnae and other supporters of the program.
How to Stay Involved
The Generation Change program encourages alumnae to contribute to the Alumni Association and stay involved in the following ways:
- -Assist with recruitment of future interns, fellows, and mentors
- -Organize social and networking events in your geographical region for Generation Change alumnae in your area
- -Serve on review committees for screening applications received and selecting applicants for potential placement as an intern and/or fellow,
- -Assist in training for incoming classes,
- -Be available for formal and informal mentorship opportunities with future program participants,
- -Become ambassadors of the program for Generation Change presentations, and
- -Support the future development of the program.
The Alumni Association is a wonderful opportunity to extend your experience with the Generation Change program and the Center for Community Change. Through the Association, we hope to enable people of all ages and backgrounds to pursue careers in community organizing and grassroots nonprofit work and locate opportunities for training, employment, and volunteering.
