Posted by: dennis . Tuesday, Jan 27, 2009

Student artists and their families joined Members of Congress and community organizations to call for swift action to be taken so that no child is waiting for health care.

On January 23, a coalition of Health Care activists, led by the  Health Rights Organizing Project along with NAKASEC, the Korean Resource Center, and the Northwest Federation of Community Organizations opened an exhibit of 60 pieces of children's artwork to humanize the need for health care for all children at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, DC.  They were joined by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

With the Senate poised to take a pivotal vote on S-CHIP, young people across the country exhibited their powerful artwork as a reminder that swift action needs to be taken so that no child is waiting for health care.

This showcase of creative self-expression affirmed that communities nationwide support health insurance for all families. Currently, 1 out of 9 children in the U.S. cannot see a doctor because they do not have health insurance.
